Can I get treatment without seeing my GP first?

Yes. For the seven Pharmacy First conditions, you can come straight to our pharmacy. Our pharmacist assesses you face to face and can supply prescription treatment where appropriate — no GP appointment or referral needed.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. For eligible conditions you can book or walk in and see our pharmacist directly.

Will I always get antibiotics?

Not necessarily. Antibiotics are only supplied when clinically appropriate. Your pharmacist will discuss risks, benefits and alternatives with you.

Is there a charge for medicines?

If you receive a prescription medicine, the usual NHS prescription charge applies unless you are exempt. There is no charge to use the Pharmacy First consultation itself.

Can I walk in without booking?

You may be seen without an appointment if a pharmacist is available, but booking guarantees a face-to-face slot at a time that suits you.

What if my condition is not listed?

If your condition is not one of the seven Pharmacy First options, choose Other condition (not listed) to contact our pharmacy team for advice, or speak to your GP or NHS 111.

What if I am not eligible for Pharmacy First?

If your age, symptoms or medical history mean this service is not suitable, our pharmacist will explain why and advise on the best next step — including seeing your GP or calling 111.
